Vang Vieng & Vientiane – part 1 of our trip

The first part of our trip that we told you about included Vang Vieng and Vientiane. Both are quite interesting cities and we want to tell you a bit about our experiences there.

Vang Vieng – a tourist city in amazing landscape

Vang Vieng, a small city, is located in the middle of the northern part of Laos, about half the way from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. This makes it easy to include in our trip and it’s worth it! The city is embedded in a wonderful landcape with unique hills and mountains around it. For us, it felt like it has been cut out of a picture book. We decided to get to see more of the nature around Vang Vieng by cycling west of Nam Song river. The paths are not all street-like, but it’s quite flat and you’ll get rewarded for your effort.

Luang Prabang Half Marathon & we left for a trip…

Athletes on the course through the streets of Luang Prabang

As you might know, health care in developing countries is usually not as good as in first world countries. Since not everyone is able to get to Germany but Germans are quite everywhere in the world, there are Oktoberfests in a lot of countries. Sometimes they even import German goods to make it as authentic as possible.

What’s Aelizebeth in Laos?

You might have wondered what ‘Aelizebeth’ has to do with Laos –well, today this will change.

First things first. Matthias and me, Maxi, we decided to spent half a year (about 5½h months) in Laos. Initially, we wanted to work at a social project called ‘fairtrek’ (click to open the Webpage). This project aims at two goals: allowing local inhabitants to profit from tourism incomes in Laos and allowing tourists to not only stay in their hotels in the bigger towns but to get to know local people, culture and Lifestyle. For more information about the project and its participants, feel free to visit the webpage of fairtrek.

Cars, history and me

Germany is the home of cars for many people. Not only have we invented the car but we also have many car enthusiasts and up to now one of the only highways without speed limit – well, at least most of the time.  As you might know, we are from Germany and you can see in my pictures that I’m a fan of cars as well, especially Mercedes-Benz vehicles excite me. But, of course, there are amazing and historically significant cars from other manufacturers as well :).
